Founded in 1999, Ambulatory Anesthesiologists of Chicago (AAOC) has developed into one of the largest outpatient-focused ambulatory anesthesia groups in the Chicagoland area.  MHS believes strongly that the success of ambulatory surgery centers depends on outstanding outpatient-focused ambulatory anesthesia services.  A recent acquisition of a competitor has enabled AAOC to expand its reach.  Currently, AAOC employs 27 full-time and 3 part-time anesthesiologists. All AAOC physicians are board certified or board-eligible anesthesiologists. AAOC provides anesthesia services to 12 ambulatory surgery centers throughout Illinois

DayOne Health provides comprehensive outpatient bariatric surgery programs in the multi-specialty ambulatory surgery center (“ASC”) setting. DayOne offers laparoscopic gastric banding (the “Lap-Band™ surgery) and gastric balloon procedure. DayOne Health provides its patients continuity of care from their initial contact with our patient advocates throughout their post-op weight loss journey.  With DayOne Health, patients can have Lap-Band surgery with the country’s most experienced Lap-Band surgeons and go home the same day.

DayOne leads the country as the first freestanding ASC-based bariatric program to perform the Lap-Band® procedure in 2001 and has the longest experience in the field as an ASC owner managing its own bariatric program.  DayOne’s Chicago program was designated by the FDA in conjunction with the University of Illinois as the first FDA-approved clinical trial site to test the efficacy of the Lap-Band procedure in the adolescent population.   DayOne’s clinical outcomes have been published in many respected peer-reviewed clinical journals. In 2008, DayOne’s program at The Surgery Center at 900 North Michigan Avenue earned the distinction of being granted Bariatric Center of Excellence status by the Surgical Review Committee.  DayOne’s program is the first in the country to earn this honor, demonstrating the program’s high standard of patient care and outstanding patient outcomes.  In 2008, DayOne launched its outpatient weight loss program at Kendall Pointe Surgery Center in Oswego, offering the only bariatric program within a 10 mile radius and in 2012 expanded the program to Southwestern Medical Center in Bedford Park.

Kendall Pointe Surgery Center (KP), located in Oswego, Illinois is MHS’s most recent acquisition and expanded MHS’s reach to the western suburbs in 2008.  This 12,000 square foot, 3 OR, 1 procedure room center was built in 2003 and has a strong multi-specialty case mix.  KP’s case mix for 20012 included general surgery, GI procedures, gynecology, neurology, ophthalmology, pain management, plastic surgery, podiatry, and urology.  KP maintains a medical staff of approximately 60 surgeons.  MHS brings professional management and innovative programs such as DayOne Health’s outpatient weight loss surgery program to Kendall Pointe, attracting new physician interest and raising the profile of this strong local ASC.
